Canada deports Punjabi youth in extortion case, releases photo and seeks public help

Chandigarh: Canada has deported 22-year-old Punjabi youth, Lovebir Singh, for alleged involvement in criminal cases related to extortion. Authorities have also released his photo and appealed to the public for information about his activities and associates while in Canada.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) identified Lovebir as a suspect in violent extortion cases in early 2026. He had been living in Canada since fall 2023.

 Action following immigration investigation

After the SPS shared information, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an immigration investigation. Following the completion of the investigation, Lovebir, a foreign national, was deported from Canada.

Police stated that releasing his photo was necessary to assist with the ongoing investigation. Authorities hope this will encourage witnesses, victims, or their associates to come forward and provide information.

 Reward announced for information

The SPS has appealed to the public that anyone with information related to the case should contact police or a designated tip line. Crime Stoppers can also be contacted to submit anonymous information.

A reward of up to $250,000 has been announced under the “Surrey Extortion Reward Fund” for information leading to charges and convictions in extortion cases.
