Reasons for Captain’s dissatisfaction with the BJP

• No consultation before appointing the state chief: Captain had opposed the appointment of Dhillon as the new Punjab BJP chief. He stated that while Dhillon was active during his tenure as Chief Minister, his performance on the ground did not meet expectations. The BJP did not consult him on this matter.
• Congress sought advice; BJP decisions come from the top: Comparing the working styles of the Congress and the BJP, Captain noted that he served as Congress president three times and was always consulted there. However, the BJP has a completely different culture; decisions simply come from the top without anyone being consulted.
• BJP ignoring alliance proposal: Captain Amarinder favors an alliance with the Akali Dal for the Punjab elections and openly advocates for it. In contrast, BJP leaders repeatedly state that they will contest all 117 seats alone.
• Difficulty meeting senior BJP leaders: Captain had previously remarked that he still misses the Congress, describing it as a family where leaders would meet him whenever he called. He noted that such a system does not exist within the BJP.
• BJP failed to even express condolences: Captain Amarinder Singh mentioned that Rahul Gandhi had sent birthday greetings and a condolence message upon the recent passing of his brother, Randhir, whereas no one from the BJP expressed condolences.
