CBI appeals acquittal of Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Delhi liquor policy case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the acquittal of Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and others in the corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy. This move comes after the lower court acquitted all 23 accused.

    Lower court acquits all accused

The lower court acquitted all 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and K Kavitha, due to lack of sufficient evidence. This case involved the liquor policy enacted by the Delhi government in 2021, which was withdrawn following allegations of irregularities in its implementation.

CBI claims crucial aspects of the investigation were overlooked

The CBI argued that the lower court overlooked several crucial aspects of the investigation and did not adequately consider the available material. The case was handed over to the CBI by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena to conduct an impartial investigation into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the liquor policy.
