CBI files 300-page chargesheet against suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar

Punjab Police’s suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and middleman Krishna Sharda will be produced in the CBI court today. Both were in judicial custody for the last 14 days. The investigation into corruption and money laundering against suspended DIG Bhullar is intensifying.

The CBI filed a 300-page chargesheet in the court on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the ED has also registered a money laundering case against Bhullar and started an investigation. The CBI had arrested Bhullar and middleman Krishna Sharda on October 16, 2025. Both are accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 8 lakh from Mandi Gobindgarh scrap dealer Akash Batta.

300-Page chargsheet filed 

On Wednesday, the CBI filed a 300-page chargesheet in the special CBI court in the DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar case. The investigation team has made Bhullar and the middleman Krishna as accused. During the investigation, the CBI recovered a diary from the house of the middleman, which contained the names and bank account numbers of several bureaucrats and officials of Punjab.

The investigation team has not included the names of these bureaucrats and two judicial officers in the chargesheet. Apart from this, the investigation team has included Section 61(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in the corruption case filed against the two accused.

The CBI court will hear both the cases of corruption and disproportionate assets against Bhullar and the middleman on Thursday. On 16 October 2025, the CBI arrested the middleman Krishna and DIG of Ropar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar on the basis of the complaint of Akash Batta, a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh.

Over Rs 7 crore in cash recovered

Based on the complaint, the CBI has registered a case against both of them under sections 7 and 7A of the PC Act. During the raid at Bhullar’s house, the investigation team recovered Rs 7.32 crore in cash, about 2.5 kg of gold ornaments, 24 expensive watches and bottles of foreign liquor of different brands from his farmhouse.
