CDS General Anil Chauhan Visits Srinagar; Villagers Await Welcome

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan arrived in Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand today on an official trip, where he is scheduled to interact with students and faculty at various programmes focused on leadership and nation-building.

Engaging With Students & Community

General Chauhan, accompanied by his wife Anupama Chauhan, attended an event at the Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University where he received a ceremonial guard of honour and will engage with students, including those from medical colleges, to discuss topics such as service, discipline and youth contribution to a developed India.

Ancestral Village Connections and Local Welcome

Though no formal event is planned in his ancestral village, residents of his home village of Gavana in Pauri Garhwal district have travelled to Srinagar to meet him. Villagers expressed excitement and hope to raise local concerns, including demands for improved drinking water infrastructure and better road connectivity to the village and to his ancestral home.

Local Issues Highlighted by Villagers

Village leaders said that water supply lines damaged during the monsoon season have yet to be fully repaired, forcing residents to rely on temporary solutions. They also plan to request interlocking-tile roads leading from the main route to the CDS’s ancestral home to enhance access.
