New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday welcomed what he described as a decisive intervention by the Central Government to enforce the removal of “10-minute delivery” branding from quick-commerce platforms, calling it a crucial step towards protecting the safety and dignity of delivery riders.
In a post on X, Chadha said the move would reduce the intense pressure faced by delivery partners, particularly when the promise of ultra-fast delivery is displayed on riders’ uniforms and reinforced by countdown timers on customer apps.
“When ‘10 minutes’ is printed on a rider’s T-shirt, jacket or bag, and a timer runs on the customer’s screen, the pressure is real, constant and dangerous,” the Rajya Sabha MP said, adding that the intervention prioritises human life and road safety.
Chadha noted that he had spoken to hundreds of delivery partners over recent months, many of whom, he said, were overworked, underpaid and forced to take serious risks to meet unrealistic delivery targets.
The AAP leader also thanked citizens who supported the campaign against ultra-fast delivery promises, stating that public backing played a key role in highlighting the safety concerns associated with such branding.
“This step will help ensure the safety of delivery riders and everyone who shares our roads,” he said, while expressing solidarity with gig workers across the country. “To every gig worker — you’re not alone, we’re all with you.”
Quick-commerce platforms have come under increasing scrutiny from policymakers and labour advocates over the impact of aggressive delivery timelines on rider safety and working conditions.
