The man from Ferozepur had given the betel nut

The target of the shooters in Chandigarh was not Jankidas, the cashier of Mr. Kumar Chemist in Sector-11, but a big chemist of this sector. The shooters were given a contract to kill the chemist by a man from Ferozepur. This has come to light in the investigation of the Chandigarh Police so far. After the firing, gangster Goldie Dhillon issued a voice message and took the name of ‘Kumar Brothers’.

According to police sources, it has become clear that the target was not Jankidas. Both the shooters got entangled in the affair named ‘Kumar’ and shot Janakidas sitting on the Omar shot in Shri Kumar Chemist. There are 6 medical shops in Sector-11 named ‘Kumar’.

Besides, the shooters were also found to have connections in Kharar, Mohali. According to police sources, all three accused have visited Kharar several times before, and they have an acquaintance there. However, this time, before carrying out the crime, they did not contact him. After the murder, the accused took a bus to Delhi at night and then traveled by train to Jammu to avoid raising any suspicion.

After the murder that took place on the afternoon of June 13, three teams have been investigating, including inspectors and senior officers from the crime branch and operations cell. The teams are stationed in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Haryana. The names of the accused shooters that have come up are Adil, Sunny Mehra, and Rahul Chauhan. Adil, the main shooter, is still at large, but three suspects in contact with him—Ajay Kumar, Omkar, and Vivek Mehra—have been taken into custody from Samba, Jammu.

The shooters were being constantly updated by their companion

According to police sources, after the cashier Janki Das was shot dead at Shri Kumar Medical Store in Sector-11, Chandigarh, two shooters and their companion reached Kajheri. There, they bought clothes from a shop and changed.

After that, they stayed in the area for some time and then headed to Delhi. Around 10 PM, they reached Kashmiri Gate in Delhi. From there, they went on foot to a hotel, but left the hotel with their belongings after a while and stayed at another place.

According to sources, a young man was constantly updating the shooters about news circulating on social media. It is said that this young man is a friend of the accused Rahul and kept providing updates to the accused after the incident.

All three caught suspects were in contact with the shooters

Among the three arrested suspects, Ajay is a plumber, while Omkar is an auto driver. Omkar’s name had earlier come up in a murder case registered in Rajbagh area of Kathua district. Vivek Mehra was currently staying at his uncle’s house in Chakmanga village of Samba and used to run a meat cart.
This operation was carried out with the support of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The police also recovered a pistol from their possession.

Investigations revealed that these three young men were in phone contact with the shooters who carried out the murder, and they remained in constant touch both before and after the incident.

A case was already registered against a shooter in Jammu and Kashmir

According to sources, investigating agencies also found out that the accused reached Jammu and Kashmir from Delhi by train, so that there would be no suspicion on them. A criminal case is already registered against Sunny Mehra in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, some media reports have claimed Sunny Mehra’s arrest, but Chandigarh police have not officially confirmed it.

After the incident, Chandigarh police and Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) have been continuously searching for the accused. According to sources, during the investigation, 7 to 8 people from Jammu and Kashmir have been taken into custody for questioning. Police are trying to find out who helped the accused and which people their network is connected to.

The investigation has also revealed that the suspects involved in several major incidents in Chandigarh had previously stayed at hotels in the Kajheri area. Keeping this in mind, the police have instructed hotel operators and guest house owners in border areas to immediately inform the police about any suspicious people coming from Jammu and Kashmir or other remote areas. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential.

    AGTF conducting raids for arrests

According to sources, Punjab AGTF has taken a suspect into custody. However, it is not yet clear whether he is directly involved in the incident or is an accomplice helping the suspects. For now, teams from Chandigarh Police and Punjab AGTF have gotten quite close to the suspects. Investigation agencies claim that all the accused involved in the firing and murder incident will be arrested soon. Meanwhile, after the incident, the Chandigarh Traders Association expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order in the city and has demanded intervention from the Prime Minister.
