Chandigarh: The Crime Branch in Chandigarh has arrested three accused, including the owner of an immigration company. They recovered two pistols and seven live cartridges. An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
The arrested accused have been identified as Arvinder Singh alias Nanu, a resident of Manimajra Pipliwala Town, Mantu, a resident of Bhakarpur village in Mohali, and Pawan, a resident of Indira Colony. Police investigations revealed that the arrested accused had previously served time in jail and frequently met with gangster Kali.

DSP Dheeraj Kumar said that Head Constable Dinesh Kumar was on patrol with a police party when they received information near Kishangarh Chowk that a young man, Pawan, resident of Indira Colony, Manimajra, was carrying a country-made pistol and live cartridges.
Police set up a checkpoint near Tech Mahindra Road in the IT Park and apprehended Pawan around 6:35 a.m. A search revealed a country-made pistol and a live cartridge (8mm KF brand) in his underpants. A case was registered and he was arrested.
The names of 2 associates were taken during interrogation.
During investigation, accused Pawan revealed that he had purchased two weapons from a man named Abhishek, a resident of Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He sold one weapon and four cartridges to the owner of an immigration office in Sector 17, Chandigarh, through his friend Nonu, while he kept the second weapon and one cartridge.
Acting on Pawan’s statement, the police subsequently arrested two more accused, Arvinder Singh alias Nanu, and Mantu, owner of the immigration company EV-Visa. Based on their information, two 8mm cartridges were recovered from Arvinder Singh alias Nanu near the Indira Colony Sports Complex, and a country-made pistol, magazine, and four live cartridges were recovered from Mantu at Kachcha Rasta, Jeeri Mandi, Sector 39, Chandigarh.
Bought a pistol for Rs 1.20 lakh
Police investigation revealed that the accused, Pawan, had sold a pistol to Mantu, an immigration agent, for ₹120,000. Mantu had purchased the pistol to satisfy his own hobby. He loved owning pistols and showing them off to his friends, but this hobby proved costly.
