High Alert in Chandigarh After Jalandhar–Amritsar Blasts; Punjab Police HQ Secured

After the blast outside the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar, the main gate of the Punjab Police headquarters in Chandigarh has been made bulletproof. For security reasons, additional Punjab Police personnel have been deployed outside the headquarters, and strict surveillance is being kept on every person coming and going. Continuous monitoring in the area has been increased.

Along with this, the Chandigarh Police PCR is also patrolling the surroundings continuously. This area is considered highly sensitive because the Chandigarh Police headquarters and the office of Punjab’s Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria are also located nearby.

Alertness increased due to blasts in Jalandhar and Amritsar

On Tuesday night, there was an explosion outside the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar, in which the use of an improvised explosive device (IED) was suspected. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident. Meanwhile, in Amritsar, an attempt was made to carry out a grenade attack inside an army camp, but it exploded after hitting a wall.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav visited the site to investigate and confirmed that IED blasts occurred in Jalandhar and Amritsar. He said that the Jalandhar blast could have been carried out using a timer or remote, and there is suspicion of the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies in this.

KLA has taken responsibility

The Khalistan Liberation Army (KLA) has taken responsibility for the Jalandhar blast through a social media post. The post also threatened police officers. After these incidents, security agencies across Punjab, including Chandigarh, are on alert and surveillance has been increased at sensitive locations.
