Chandigarh NIA court declares Goldy Brar as fugitive; orders to appear within 30 days

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court in Chandigarh has declared terrorist Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar a fugitive. Acting under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (Indian Citizen Security Code) 2023, Special Judge Bhavna Jain ordered him to appear before the court within 30 days.

A case was registered against Goldy Brar on January 20, 2024, for the kidnapping of a businessman in Chandigarh, which was taken over by the NIA on March 8, 2024. Goldy is also the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The central government has already declared him a terrorist, and he is currently residing in Canada.

In this case, Goldy Brar has been charged under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 384 (extortion), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, along with sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. His property may be confiscated if he fails to appear within the stipulated time. According to sources, efforts to extradite him from Canada to India have also been intensified.
