Chandigarh Police Conduct Flag March, Warn Drug Traffickers

Chandigarh: To maintain law and order in Chandigarh and tighten the noose around drug traffickers, the police conducted a flag march on Wednesday night. During this exercise, a convoy of vehicles accompanied by a heavy police contingent—with sirens blaring—moved through the lanes and main roads of the area. The objective was to send a clear message to anti-social elements and drug suppliers that enforcement measures have now been significantly intensified.

This flag march was conducted in areas such as Mauli Jagran, Mauli Complex, Charan Singh Colony, Vikas Nagar, and Raipur Kalan. Throughout the march, police patrolled every street and sensitive location, reassuring the public of their safety.

List of Previously Apprehended Accused Persons Prepared

In Chandigarh, this flag march was led by Inspector Jaskaran Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Mauli Jagran Police Station. He stated that the police have compiled a detailed list of individuals in the area who have previously been apprehended in cases involving drug trafficking or drug consumption.

This list maintains a record of the names, addresses, and activities of all such individuals to ensure they remain under constant surveillance. In line with this strategy, police teams are visiting these individuals’ homes one by one to issue them stern warnings.

Inspector Jaskaran Singh explained that everyone is being told in no uncertain terms that if anyone is caught selling or consuming drugs again, strict legal action will be taken against them. Furthermore, any assets or property acquired through drug-related activities will be seized (attached).

Warnings Delivered to Drug Traffickers at Their Homes

During the flag march, the police teams placed a special focus on individuals who have previously been arrested in drug trafficking or consumption cases, as well as those currently under suspicion. Police officers, accompanied by their teams, personally visited these individuals’ homes and engaged in direct conversations with them.

The police issued a stern warning, stating clearly that if any individual is caught selling or consuming narcotics again, strict legal action will be taken against them. Furthermore, it was announced that such action would no longer be limited to mere arrest; rather, any assets acquired using proceeds from drug-related activities would also be seized (attached).

The police stated that if anyone has amassed wealth—such as a house, a vehicle, or other property—by profiting from the drug trade, such assets will be investigated and are liable to be seized.

    Strict Measures Against Nighttime Roamers

Recently, several incidents involving damage to vehicles and acts of vandalism occurring during the night have come to light. In certain areas, the windows of parked vehicles were smashed and the vehicles themselves were damaged, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the public.

In light of these incidents, and during a flag march, the police issued a specific warning to individuals found loitering without a valid reason, particularly during the night. The police stated that anyone found roaming the streets late at night without any urgent business would be subjected to questioning.

The police clarified that if any individual is found loitering under suspicious circumstances or is discovered to be involved in any form of mischievous activity, immediate legal action will be initiated against them. If deemed necessary, they may also be taken into custody.
