According to police sources, during the investigation, call detail records from the accused’s mobile phones were traced to the Gunnaur area of Sambhal district; consequently, the Bengal Police team had set out to conduct a raid there.

It is reported that the West Bengal Police team intended to reach Gunnaur based on technical evidence and mobile location data; however, due to reliance on outdated administrative records and information, the team inadvertently arrived in Badaun. In fact, the Gunnaur region was formerly a part of Badaun district. Later, following the formation of Sambhal district, this area was incorporated into it. For this reason, the police team proceeded directly to Badaun.
