Jalandhar MP raised Cantt Eidgah, land registration issue in parliament

New Delhi: Congress MP and former Chief Minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday raised the issue of Idgah built in Jalandhar Cantt in the Lok Sabha and said that the central government should pay attention to the issue and urge that the sentiments of the Muslim community of Punjab are not hurt.

He during his speech said that the sentiments of muslim people are attached with that place. “The Muslim Idgah built in the Cantonment area is in the possession of the Muslim community since 1909, all the land of the said Idgah was donated to them. But some time ago they were given a notice that this land should be vacated as soon as possible,” he informed parliament.

Other issues Channi raised during his speech

He also raised the issue of getting land registration allocated to the people in the Cantonment area. He urged the center to find the solution to the issue, so that people will get registration of their lands. 

Channi also highlights the issue of road built around the cantonment. “The government had to build a peripheral road around the cantonment area. For which 13 villages had to be acquired. The government should start work on this as soon as possible, so that the soldiers and the people around will benefit.”
