Charlie Kirk Killing: FBI recovers Rifle, suspect still at large

Uttah: The FBI has confirmed that the rifle used in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been recovered, while images of the suspected shooter are also in possession of investigators. FBI special agent Robert Bohls said the weapon, found in a wooded area, was a “high-powered rifle.” Despite these developments, the suspect remains at large.

According to Utah Department of Public Safety commissioner Beau Mason, the shooter appeared to be of college age and managed to blend in with students at Utah Valley University, where the attack occurred. Officials also revealed they had “good video footage” of the suspect, who fled across a roof and into a nearby neighborhood. Footprints and other imprints are under investigation.

The killing unfolded on Wednesday as Kirk, 31, was responding to a question on mass shootings during an outdoor event at UVU. A single gunshot struck him in the neck, with visuals showing him collapsing from his chair. He was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the act a “political assassination.”

The tragedy has triggered national and international reactions. President Donald Trump called Kirk a “true patriot,” blaming the “radical left” for his killing, and announced that he would posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Vice President JD Vance and his wife are traveling to Utah to pay respects. Tributes also poured in from world leaders, including Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney and Italy’s President.

The FBI, working with state and local authorities, has urged the public to share any information, photos, or videos related to the incident. Officials stressed that time is critical in the manhunt, warning the suspect could gain shelter or support with every passing hour.

Meanwhile, vigils have been held in Utah, and flags at U.S. embassies in Seoul and Tokyo have been lowered to half-staff. Lawmakers across the political spectrum have condemned the assassination, calling for unity against political violence.
