Chemicals laden Truck catches fire on Goraya National Highway

A truck caught fire near the Chacharadi Overbridge on the Goraya National Highway, causing panic in the area. The fire was so severe that 10 fire brigade vehicles had to be called to the spot to extinguish it. The fire was brought under control after approximately five hours of hard work.

Sawar Singh said that he was transporting a motor grader from Patiala to Amritsar. When he reached the Goraya Chacharadi Overbridge, his machine broke down. He got down to inspect it when a truck coming from behind hit the machine.

Singh alleged that the truck driver was drunk and was carrying some chemical, which caused the fire. He got the driver out of the truck, after which he fled from the spot. He immediately informed the police.

The truck was heading from Ludhiana to Jalandhar.
Road Safety Force in-charge Sarabjit Singh said that he had received information that the truck was heading from Ludhiana to Jalandhar. The truck collided with a motor grader parked on the Chacharadi Overbridge, causing the truck to catch fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, they found both the motor grader and the truck engulfed in flames. Due to the truck’s load of plastic granules, the fire spread rapidly and became devastating.

Truck Driver Flees

The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Sarabjit Singh immediately informed the fire brigade and Goraya police. For safety reasons, the highway was barricaded and traffic was diverted to the service lane to prevent any further accidents. Later, fire brigade vehicles were called in from Phillaur and Phagwara, who, after considerable effort, brought the fire under control.
