Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday reviewed the progress of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Agra and directed officials to ensure that construction is completed by January, paving the way for its timely inauguration.

A Living Tribute to India’s Valour and Heritage

Emphasising that the museum should reflect India’s valour, self-respect, and cultural grandeur, CM Yogi said it must not be a “static display” but a living, interactive experience that allows visitors to connect with the nation’s glorious past.

He noted that the museum should celebrate the spirit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj while also embodying the rich cultural essence of Uttar Pradesh through art, architecture, and storytelling.

“Every artwork, sculpture, and architectural element must express the cultural soul of Uttar Pradesh. Every wall and courtyard should tell a story that blends folk art, traditional crafts, and modern creativity,” the Chief Minister said.

Immersive Galleries to Bring History to Life

Highlighting key attractions of the upcoming museum, CM Yogi directed officials to make use of advanced technologies such as 7D effects, digital sound, light, and visuals to create an immersive experience.

• The ‘Shivaji and the Great Escape Gallery’ will recreate the legendary escape of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from Agra Fort, allowing visitors to relive the moment through cutting-edge visual effects.

• The ‘Festivals Gallery’ will showcase major festivals of Uttar Pradesh — including Mahashivratri, Dev Deepawali in Kashi, Shri Krishna Janmotsav, Rangotsav in Braj, and the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj — through sound, light, and colour-based installations rather than static images.

Showcasing Agra’s Cultural and Architectural Legacy

CM Yogi also instructed officials to develop an ‘Agra Gallery’ highlighting the city’s architectural and cultural heritage, encompassing Mughal architecture, Braj culture, and the evolution of modern Agra.

Additionally, an ‘Orientation Gallery’ will introduce visitors to the museum’s vision, Shivaji Maharaj’s life, and the socio-cultural environment of his era.

Innovation and Inspiration at the Core

The Chief Minister urged that the museum should serve as a centre of inspiration for future generations, blending history with innovation. He called for the integration of interactive technology, virtual reality, digital archives, and sound-light shows across all galleries.

“The museum should not just preserve the past — it must inspire the future,” Yogi Adityanath said.

He directed officials to maintain high standards of quality and ensure timely completion, adding that the museum would strengthen Agra’s global identity and stand as a living symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s cultural pride.
