Gift for Punjab Women: ‘Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ to Start from July 1

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that eligible women in the state will begin receiving financial assistance under the“Mukhyamantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana” from July 1. Reviewing the preparations for the scheme’s implementation, the Chief Minister described the initiative as a significant step toward empowering women economically and enabling them to lead dignified and self-reliant lives. He also directed officials to ensure the scheme is implemented effectively and transparently.

Under the scheme, every eligible woman in Punjab will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹1,500 per month. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Women who are already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible to benefit from the scheme. According to the government, nearly 97 percent of women in Punjab are expected to benefit, and ₹9,300 crore has been allocated in the state budget for its implementation.

Highlighting the scheme’s social importance, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that while the financial assistance may not make women wealthy, it will provide them with greater dignity and financial independence. He emphasized that strengthening women’s economic security is essential for improving family welfare, promoting gender equality, and increasing women’s participation in social and economic decision-making.

Reviewing the registration process, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that enrollment has already begun across the state, with lakhs of women registering every day. He added that women from the Scheduled Caste category would receive the enhanced benefit of ₹1,500 per month. The registration of eligible beneficiaries is being carried out by approximately 200,000 “Mahila Satkar Sakhis.”

The Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann further informed that registrations are being conducted through Anganwadi Centres, Seva Kendras, and other locations designated by Deputy Commissioners in their respective districts. He expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly contribute to women’s empowerment across Punjab and help them live with dignity, confidence, and greater financial security.
