Chip-Based Electricity Meter Row: KMM to remove meters across Punjab today

Kisan-Mazdoor Morcha will start a campaign to remove chip-based electricity meters in Punjab from today. All these meters will be deposited in the offices of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). However, farmers associated with KMM in Patiala district had started removing chip-based meters a day before the campaign started.

Giving information, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the Morcha will start a campaign to remove chip-based meters in the Gaunsgarh area on Rahon Road under the leadership of state-level leader of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha Dilbagh Singh in Ludhiana. Dilbagh Singh said that many people from the Gaunsgarh area have called the number issued by KMM and asked for the removal of meters.

Sarwan Singh Pandher and Dilbagh Singh said that all the electricity meters removed from the consumers will be deposited in the electricity office of PSPCL in Gaunsgarh. He further said that farmers who remove chip-based meters will deposit them in the nearest office.

He said that no one’s meters will be removed forcibly. Only those who contact him will have their meters removed. He said that if the people of Punjab want uninterrupted power in the future, they should remove the chip-based meters and hand them over to Powercom, and if they cannot do it themselves, they should contact KMM.

The leaders said that as per the decision of the state body, the meters will be removed across Punjab today. They appealed to anyone who wants to remove their chip-based meters to call the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha numbers.

Be ready for protests if PSPCL registers FIR

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that if PSPCL officials take action against anyone or register an FIR for removing chip-based meters, they should be ready for protests. He assured the residents that if any action is taken against them, KMM will be fully responsible and will cancel their permits.
