Chunky Panday celebrates Friendship Day with his school squad

Mumbai: Actor Chunky Panday marked Friendship Day by celebrating with his school group. On Sunday, he shared several photos on Instagram from his reunion with friends from his school, St Andrews.

In the images, Chunky appears to be enjoying himself, sharing laughs and memorable moments with his friends. He captioned the post, “With all my schoolmates, the Andrean Boys. A night of Biryani, Booze and Bull****. Love these guys. St Andrews Class of 1978. Thanks Robin K for hosting us.”

Chunky was born into a distinguished medical family, with both parents being doctors. His father, Sharad Panday, was a renowned heart surgeon credited with pioneering mitral valve replacement surgery in India.

Meanwhile, Chunky’s nephew, Ahaan Panday, has recently made a mark in Bollywood with his debut film ‘Saiyaara,’ which had an impressive opening, earning INR 21.5 crore within India. Another film, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, opened with INR 7.25 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Despite delaying its release due to the success of ‘Saiyaara,’ the latter continues to dominate at the box office.

‘Saiyaara’ is being compared to classics like ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ for millennials and ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ for Generation X, in terms of its impact on new talents.

Director Mohit Suri, who helmed ‘Saiyaara,’ shared that the film’s success has kept him so busy that he hardly spends time with his family. Much of his evenings are spent analyzing box office numbers, occupancy rates, and audience footfall in theaters for his film’s screenings.

His wife, actress Udita Goswami, humorously complains about his hectic schedule, but Suri considers it a positive problem.

He told IANS, “Every evening I sit with my phone from 6 o’clock to 9 o’clock, waiting for the evening shows to finish because I want to hear feedback from viewers. People are calling and crying; I don’t even focus on myself. It’s rare to make a film that receives so much love, and I think that’s very special.”

Currently, ‘Saiyaara’ is approaching the INR 300 crore milestone, a significant achievement for both Suri and the industry, especially for debutants.
