CID Arrests Two PSOs of Zubeen Garg in Financial Probe Linked to Singer’s Death

Guwahati: In a major development in the investigation into the death of iconic Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday arrested two of his Personal Security Officers (PSOs), Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya. With this, the total arrests in the high-profile case have risen to seven.

The arrests followed four days of consecutive questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case. Both PSOs were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s (CJM) court, which remanded them to five days’ police custody against the SIT’s demand for 14 days.

The two officers had been suspended on October 7 after allegations of financial irregularities surfaced.

Suspicious Transactions Unearthed

According to sources, investigators have traced significant financial transactions linked to the duo’s bank accounts. Preliminary findings revealed that around ₹70 lakh was connected to Nandeshwar Bora, while nearly ₹40 lakh was traced to Paresh Baishya.

These transfers, reportedly made through digital payment platforms, are suspected to involve money belonging to Zubeen Garg. Officials said the SIT is probing whether the PSOs had direct involvement in managing or diverting the late singer’s funds.

Wider Investigation

Earlier, Assam Police officer Sandipan Garg, a cousin of Zubeen, was arrested and sent to seven days’ police custody. He had accompanied the singer to Singapore for a music festival and was present at the yacht party on September 19, where Zubeen tragically drowned while swimming.

Officials said the financial probe into Garg’s death is widening, with Friday’s arrests expected to provide crucial leads into the money trail and possible misuse of the singer’s finances.
