Over 100 MP citizens stranded in Dubai, Sharjah; Cong urges Narendra Modi to intervene

Bhopal: The Congress has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safety of all Indians, including over 100 citizens of Madhya Pradesh, who are stranded at airports in Dubai and Sharjah due to the US-Israel attack on Iran and the subsequent retaliation.

The party requested immediate intervention to ensure the safety of stranded Indians and arrange for their early return home.

Airports shut, flights cancelled

Following the attacks, Dubai airports have reportedly been closed and flights cancelled indefinitely. An Air India Express flight IX-256 from Sharjah to Indore was cancelled. Saturday’s flights IX255 (Indore–Sharjah) and IX256 (Sharjah–Indore) were also called off.

More than 100 passengers from Madhya Pradesh are now stranded at Dubai and Sharjah airports. Many had already reached Dubai and were scheduled to take connecting flights from Sharjah to Indore when they were informed about the cancellation at the last moment.

Jitu Patwari appeals on X

State Congress chief Jitu Patwari appealed to the Prime Minister through his X handle for urgent action.

In his post, he wrote that more than 100 citizens of Madhya Pradesh, including women and children, are stranded due to the Israel-Iran conflict. He said passengers have been facing inconvenience for several hours and their anxiety has increased after flight cancellations.

The stranded passengers are from several districts, including Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior.

Families anxious amid tensions

According to reports, the Sharjah–Indore flight was scheduled to depart at 12:20 pm UAE time but was cancelled at the last minute. Passengers came to know about the cancellation only after reaching the airport.

With rising tensions in the Gulf region and reports of drone activity near landmarks like the Burj Khalifa, families remain anxious as they wait for updates on their return.
