New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday reaffirmed that its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remains “non-negotiable”, making it clear that the ongoing protest in the national capital will continue until the government accepts the demand. The statement came amid intensified demonstrations, heightened security and renewed efforts by the Centre to engage with protest leaders through dialogue.

The youth-led movement, which began over alleged irregularities in the examination system and demands for accountability, has grown into one of the largest protests in recent years. Despite government outreach, CJP leaders said they would not end the agitation without concrete action, insisting that discussions alone would not resolve the concerns raised by students and protesters.

CJP rejects compromise, says resignation is the only acceptable outcome

CJP leaders said there is no scope for compromise on their primary demand, stressing that the resignation of the Union Education Minister is essential to restore public confidence in the country’s examination system.

The organisation maintained that any dialogue with the government would only be meaningful if it addressed the core demand instead of offering assurances or future reforms. According to the party, symbolic discussions without accountability would not satisfy students who have been affected by repeated examination controversies.

Government open to talks, but protesters remain firm

The Centre has indicated its willingness to engage with protest representatives, with senior ministers reaching out in an attempt to break the deadlock. However, CJP declined the latest invitation for talks, stating that private meetings would serve little purpose unless the government first demonstrated its commitment to addressing the principal demand.

Government representatives have said they are prepared to discuss the issues raised by protesters and have assured that concerns regarding the examination system will be debated. However, they have not committed to seeking the Education Minister’s resignation.

Protest continues amid heightened security in Delhi

The protest has continued at Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas despite heavy police deployment and restrictions in parts of central Delhi. Authorities have intensified security measures following recent clashes between protesters and police, while several roads and Metro stations have witnessed restrictions due to the ongoing demonstrations.

The movement has attracted widespread attention from students, civil society groups and opposition parties, with organisers asserting that the agitation will remain peaceful but continue until their demands are fulfilled. Protest leaders have appealed to supporters to maintain discipline while sustaining pressure on the government.
