Class 10 Student Who Shared Dais With Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu Dies by Suicide

Amaravati: A Class 10 student from Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram district, who had recently shared the dais with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during a school event, died by suicide on Monday.

The student, identified as Murram Shivani, allegedly hanged herself at her grandmother’s house in Irlapalli village. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.

Student had spoken at Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting

Shivani, a student of Government High School, Rampachodavaram, had participated in the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (MPTM 4.0) held at Zilla Parishad High School in Rampachodavaram on July 24.

During the event, she delivered a speech in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh. Following her speech, Naidu called her to the stage and asked her to sit beside him. The Chief Minister also interacted with her.

The student had reportedly expressed her ambition to work hard and win the Shining Star Award the following year.

Suicide note recovered, reason yet to be ascertained

Police said Shivani left behind a handwritten note in which she apologised to her parents for not being able to fulfil their dreams. The exact reason behind her extreme step is not yet known.

Her parents work at a hotel in Korukonda, while she was staying with her grandmother and continuing her studies.

CM Naidu expresses grief, orders probe

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over Shivani’s death and directed officials to conduct a detailed investigation.

Recalling his interaction with the student during the school event, Naidu said it was painful that a student with aspirations and potential had lost her life.

He urged students and young people to seek support from family, friends and loved ones during difficult times and not give in to pressure or hopelessness.

The state government has been organising Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings in government schools to strengthen coordination between parents, teachers and communities for improving students’ progress.
