Class 12 student in Maharashtra dies by suicide; was disheartened after failing to secure admission to preferred institute

Mumbai: A 17-year-old student in Maharashtra has allegedly died by suicide. The student had scored 95.7 percent marks in the Class 12 Science stream. According to the police, he was disheartened after failing to secure admission to his preferred institute.

Ranked 10,474 in BS-MS program entrance exam

The police stated that the student had appeared for the aptitude test for admission to the BS-MS program, in which he secured a rank of 10,474. Consequently, he could not get admission to the institute of his choice.

Despite his excellent performance in Class 12, the student was reportedly distressed over not achieving the expected outcome in the admission process.

Police investigation underway

The police are now investigating the events leading up to the incident and are trying to ascertain the circumstances under which the student took this step.

Information is being gathered from the family and others associated with the student. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
