Class 10 student dies by suicide after exam in Anta

Rajasthan: A 10th-grade student allegedly committed suicide in Anta on Thursday. She had returned home after taking her English board exam. Police are initially suspecting it to be a case of exam stress.

Found hanging in room

According to Anta Sub-Inspector Mangilal Suman, the student returned home after taking her exam around 2:30 pm and locked her room from inside.

When her mother went to give her tea and knocked on the door at around 4 pm, there was no response. After much effort, the family members opened the door and found the student hanging from the fan with her scarf. She was immediately taken to NTPC Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Failed last year

Police said the student had failed in the 10th grade last year. It is suspected that exam stress may have driven her to this extreme step.

After a post-mortem examination by a medical board, the body was handed over to the family. The last rites were performed in Anta. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

The student’s father is a CISF soldier and has been living in a government accommodation in Anta since 2021.
