CM Sukhu attacks BJP on RDG’s closure, appeals to PM for a meeting

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that the BJP legislative party should prioritize the interests of Himachal Pradesh during their meeting with the Governor. The Chief Minister said that the BJP should seriously raise the issue of the losses incurred by the state due to the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG).

Economic Situation Worsened Due to Discontinuation of RDG
Chief Minister Sukhu said that the financial situation of Himachal Pradesh has become extremely weak due to the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant. He described this as an unprecedented event since independence, stating that it has directly impacted the state’s development projects.

Accusation of Trying to Stop Aid by Going to Delhi
CM Sukhu alleged that BJP leaders are going to Delhi to try and stop the aid that the Himachal government is supposed to receive. He said that at this time, politics should be set aside, and unity is needed in the interest of the state.

Appeal to Meet the Prime Minister
The Chief Minister appealed to the BJP leaders to seek time with the Prime Minister directly, instead of the Finance Minister, and said that if needed, he is ready to accompany them to Delhi.
He said, “Meeting the Finance Minister will not suffice now; it is necessary to present Himachal’s case before the Prime Minister.”

Clarification on MLA Fund
The Chief Minister said that the MLA Area Development Fund will be released only after the state’s economic situation improves. He clarified that this fund is currently not being given to either BJP or Congress MLAs.

Facts to be Presented in Special Session
CM Sukhu said that the government will present the facts to the public through a special session, highlighting what the central government has given to Himachal Pradesh in the last 10 years.
He appealed to the BJP MLAs to stop spreading misinformation and instead discuss the issues based on facts and cooperate with the government.
