Cockroach Janata Party Protest in Amritsar Today; Khattar Says Supporters Will Be Seen as Anti-Nation

Today, the Cockroach Janata Party will hold a protest in Amritsar. But before that, during his visit to Amritsar, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that anyone who supports or funds this party will be considered against the country.

Yesterday (June 12), the party’s founder Abhijeet Deepak released a video saying that he will reach Amritsar at 4 PM on Saturday. He appealed to the youth to gather at the Golden Gate in Amritsar. He said that a peaceful protest will be held in support of NEET and CBSE students, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He added that if everyone raises their voices together, NEET and CBSE students can get justice.

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) started after a comment by Chief Justice Surya Kant. During a hearing on May 15, he had said that some unemployed youngsters are like cockroaches who later attack the system as media, social media, or RTI activists.

Controversy started with the CJI’s statement: The story from the name to the formation of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is quite interesting. On May 5, 2026, India’s Chief Justice (CJI) D.Y. Sunarkant reportedly used words like ‘cockroach’ and ‘parasites of society’ for unemployed youths and workers during the hearing of a case. Although he later clarified that his statement was presented out of context, by then a widespread debate had already erupted on social media over the issue.

Party launched online in a humorous way: Meanwhile, Abhijeet Deepke made a satirical post on the social media platform X, asking, ‘What if all the cockroaches of the country come together?’ This post received a lot of support from the youth. Following this, on May 16, 2026, he humorously launched the online ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP).

The campaign quickly became popular among the youth: a symbolic condition for party membership was set that the member should be unemployed, lazy, and always online. This satirical campaign soon gained massive popularity among young people. The party claims that in just a few days, its Instagram account gained over 20 million followers, more than several established political parties. After that, the party also released its manifesto and raised its voice on various issues.

CJP demonstration in Lucknow after Pune
Deepak has announced demonstrations across the country starting from June 11. It began in Pune. On June 12, the party held a demonstration in Lucknow. Deepak will visit several cities including Jaipur, Amritsar, and Bengaluru. After that, on June 20, they will reach Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The party held its first demonstration at Jantar Mantar on June 6. Thousands of people gathered for the demonstration, which lasted 5 hours.

Deepak said – My photo with the PM is AI-generated
Before the demonstration in Pune, Deepak held a press conference. During this, he said that his viral photo with Prime Minister Modi was AI-generated. He said, ‘How could I meet the Prime Minister? I was just a student in the US. Everyone knows how strict the process is to meet the Prime Minister.’

Deepak’s statement came after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s claim that Deepak had met Prime Minister Modi in the US before coming to India. Raut had claimed that he was sent a picture of the two, though he didn’t share the photo.
