Cold subsides in Punjab-Chandigarh: Weather to remain dry as no rain till Feb 15

The weather will remain clear in Punjab and Chandigarh today. On Monday afternoon, due to cloud cover in some areas and cold winds blowing from the mountains, the maximum temperature dropped by 0.9 degrees Celsius. However, it remains 1.7 degrees above normal.

Winds will continue to blow today. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain clear during this period. There is no alert regarding rain, thunderstorms, or fog. Temperatures will rise for two days. With the increase in temperatures, experts believe that the peak of winter has passed. The Meteorological Department has predicted clear weather until February 15th. However, the minimum temperature in Bathinda was recorded at 7.0 degrees Celsius.

Clouds cover in sky, but no rain

A western disturbance has reached the mountains. Due to its influence, an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over Pakistan, but not much moisture is coming from there. Consequently, some areas of Punjab and Chandigarh remained cloudy on Monday afternoon. However, these were low-altitude clouds, which prevented rain.

On the other hand, the cyclonic circulation associated with the Western Disturbance that had formed over western Rajasthan and adjoining areas has now reached southwestern Rajasthan and adjoining southern Pakistan. It is located at an altitude of about 1.5 kilometers above sea level. Meanwhile, the upper air cyclonic circulation over northwestern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas at an altitude of about 0.9 kilometers above sea level has weakened.

Temperature drops by 1.6 degrees in Chandigarh

According to the Meteorological Department, maximum temperatures in most areas of Punjab remain between 20.3 degrees and 24.7 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 22.1 degrees Celsius. Temperatures have dropped by 1.6 degrees in the past 24 hours, with a decrease of 0.8 degrees.

Whereas in the border districts, the temperature was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, 22.8 in Ludhiana, 23.0 in Patiala, 23.4 in Bathinda, 20.7 in SBS Nagar, 24.0 in Ferozepur, 22.9 in Hoshiarpur and 22.0 degrees Celsius in Rupnagar.
