Meteorological Department issues cold wave alert for eight districts of Punjab; Faridkot remains coldest

Cold wave is prevailing in Punjab and Chandigarh. Morning and evening temperatures have become quite cold. Today, a yellow alert has been issued for eight districts of Punjab for cold wave conditions. Fog is also falling. In the last 24 hours, the temperature of the state has dropped by 0.6 degrees Celsius, which is 1.6 degrees below normal.

Faridkot coldest in Punjab

Faridkot remained the coldest place in the state, where the temperature was recorded at 3.2 degrees Celsius. In view of the cold weather, the Chandigarh Health Department has issued an advisory to the residents to stay indoors as much as possible.

Cold wave in 8 districts 

According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance has become active in the upper air over North Punjab and surrounding areas. Due to this, cold winds from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will affect the weather.

Today, a cold wave will prevail in Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, Moga, Jalandhar and Moga. The minimum temperature in all districts ranged from 3.2 degrees to 8.6 degrees.
