Cold wave prevails in Punjab and Chandigarh from today, weather to remain dry

Although the intense cold spell in Punjab and the Union Territory of Chandigarh may be over, the feeling of winter hasn’t completely disappeared. Cold winds will continue for two days. While there will be bright sunshine, the chill will persist. Western disturbances will continue to arrive intermittently from February 18th to 20th.

The state’s maximum temperature increased by 1.1 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, bringing it closer to normal. The highest daytime temperature was recorded at Anandpur Sahib at 24.6 degrees Celsius, while the lowest was in Faridkot at 4.8 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh’s temperature reached 23 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain completely clear until February 11th. There are no weather alerts. Currently, a western disturbance is present in the westerly winds, at an altitude of approximately 5.8 kilometers. This disturbance is spread around 55 degrees East longitude and above 27 degrees North latitude.

New Western Disturbance on February 8th

Additionally, another new western disturbance may affect the Western Himalayan regions from the night of February 8th, 2026. Meanwhile, on Thursday, the maximum temperatures recorded were: Chandigarh 23.1 degrees, Amritsar 21.0 degrees, Ludhiana 22.8 degrees, Patiala 23.2 degrees, Bathinda 22.6 degrees, SBS Nagar 22.0 degrees, Firozpur 22.9 degrees, Hoshiarpur 22.0 degrees, Mansa 24.5 degrees, Pathankot 21.9 degrees, Ropar 22.7 degrees, and Rupnagar 24.6 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures to remain around 20 degrees Celsius from February 12th

From Friday to January 12th, the maximum temperature in the northern and eastern parts of the state is expected to remain between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, while in the remaining areas it may hover around 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. This week, the maximum temperature in the state is expected to remain close to normal. The minimum temperature is likely to range between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature will also remain around normal during this period.
