CBI Court Grants Bail to Four Punjab Police Officials in Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath Assault Case

Patiala: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has granted bail to four Punjab Police officials accused in the alleged assault on Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath in Patiala.

The accused officers: Sub-Inspector Ronnie Singh, Harry Boparai, Harjinder Singh Dhillon and Jai Singh, have been directed to furnish bail bonds of Rs 1 lakh each along with one surety of the same amount.

Charges Include Grievous Hurt and Wrongful Restraint

The prosecution has invoked several charges against the accused, including grievous hurt and wrongful restraint.

However, the attempt-to-murder charge was dropped in the chargesheet filed in the case.

Court Sets Conditions for Trial Attendance

The court directed the accused officers to remain present on every date of hearing unless they receive an exemption for valid reasons.

It also ordered that any application seeking exemption must be duly signed or endorsed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the district where the accused officers are currently posted.

Additionally, the court clarified that more than two consecutive exemption requests during the trial will not be allowed unless justified.

Incident Took Place Near Rajindra Hospital

The alleged incident occurred on the intervening night of March 13 and 14, when Colonel Bath and his son were present at a roadside eatery near Rajindra Hospital.

According to reports, an altercation took place during which the Army officer was allegedly assaulted, leading to the registration of a case against the police officials.
