Congress workers in Gurugram staged a protest against the BJP government. Gathering in large numbers under the banner of the Gurugram District Urban Congress Committee, the workers raised slogans against both the central and state governments. The protesters also symbolically burned an effigy of the government.
Congress workers questioned the government’s policies. They highlighted the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices. The workers pointed out that fuel prices have been hiked three times in the last week aloneβa surge that includes a recent increase of 90 paise per liter.
Criticism Over NEET Paper Leak
The workers argued that rising fuel prices lead to increased freight costs, thereby making all essential commodities of daily use more expensive. Expressing concern over rising inflation in the country, they stated that the government is causing distress to the common man. Alongside the issue of inflation, Congress workers also criticized the government regarding the NEET examination controversy. They asserted that the paper leak incident has tarnished the country’s image. The workers also raised questions regarding the impartiality of central investigative agencies.
Allegations of Misuse of Investigative Agencies
The workers alleged that agencies such as the CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department are operating at the behest of the government, being utilized solely to shield their own associates and to divert attention from ongoing cases.
