Container Explodes After Hitting Pole on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Driver Burnt Alive

Rajasthan: A tragic accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan on Friday claimed the life of a truck driver after a moving container exploded and caught fire following a collision with an LED pole.

The incident took place around one kilometre before the Dungarpur interchange in the Rahuvas police station area of Dausa district. Police said the container lost control and slammed into the pole with great force, leading to an instant explosion and fire.

Driver Suspected to Have Fallen Asleep

Initial findings suggest the vehicle, which was travelling from Uttar Pradesh to Maharashtra, veered sharply when the driver is believed to have dozed off at the wheel. Officials said the container was air-conditioned, which caused the flames to spread rapidly after impact.

The driver remained trapped inside the cabin and died before any assistance could arrive.

Firefighting Efforts and Aftermath

A fire brigade from Lalsot reached the spot quickly, but the blaze was so severe that firefighters needed nearly 90 minutes to bring it under control. By the end of the operation, the container had been completely gutted.

Local leaders and senior police officials, including Lalsot MLA Rambilas Meena, Additional SP Dinesh Agarwal, DSP Deepak Kumar, and Rahuvas Police Station Officer Gopal Sharma, visited the scene to oversee the situation.

CCTV Footage Shows Sudden Blast

CCTV visuals from the expressway show the container approaching from the Delhi side moments before a huge explosion engulfs the vehicle in flames, confirming the sudden nature of the accident.

Police said a detailed probe into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Second Major Tragedy on Expressway in Days

The accident comes just days after another fatal crash on a different stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, where an SUV carrying five people plunged into a ditch at high speed, killing all occupants.

Officials say both incidents highlight persistent concerns over driver fatigue, overspeeding, and the challenges posed by long, uninterrupted stretches of the high-speed corridor.
