New Delhi: The Sikh leaders of the BJP have openly opposed the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, after his statement in Virginia, US. They have condemned Rahul Gandhi’s statement in which he said that the fight in India is not about politics, but about whether a Sikh would be allowed to wear a turban or a kada in India, and the same situation applies to other religions.
Rahul Gandhi targeting BJP during his speech in Virgina and alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi highlighted insecure atmosphere in India during BJP regime. This is statement had hit sentiments of BJP leaders, many Sikh BJP leaders have took to social media to condemn Gandhi’s remarks.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has come out guns blazing against the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, MOS Ravneet Singh Bittu,National Commissioner for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura, BJP Sikh Leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa have reacted to this statement of Rahul Gandhi and they have strongly criticized Gandhi over his remarks.
Manjinder Singh said that Rahul Gandhi has made an attempt to distort reality and it is not only misleading but a dangerous effort to sow discord and hatred. Chairman of National Commissioner for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura has even stated that PM Modi has always worked for welfare of Sikhs and Sikhs are safe in nation.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri slammed Rahul Gandhi and said that he is trying to incite people who live outside the country, and making statements without any basis.
“I have been wearing ‘Turban’ and ‘Kada’ for more than the last 60 years, and I have never come across anyone who would say that they have any difficulty in wearing a ‘Turban’ and a ‘Kada’. It was in his (Rahul Gandhi’s) father’s time when a pogrom was carried out. Our 3000 people were killed… It’s not like he is unaware of all this…He has been in politics long enough. So he should realise that if he is outside the country or even inside the country and makes such statements, then he will be laughed at. This is a statement which deserves to be condemned in the strongest possible terms…He is trying to incite our brothers who live outside the country…He is making statements without any basis,” Puri told
Union Minister Giriraj Singh criticised the Congress leader and accused his party of doing ‘appeasement politics’.
“The Congress, who post-independence has been doing appeasement politics, massacred the Sikhs, is trying to teach a lesson. Mere yaha kahavat hai, ‘jo log agayaani jayada hote hai vo apne gayaan ka pardarshan jayada karte hai’ (Fools display their intellect much more),” Giriraj Singh said.
On Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s statements on Sikhs, Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh Lalpura says, “These comments reflect his mentality and thinking. Nehru family never fulfilled the promises made to the Sikhs…Even after 40 years of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the National Commission for Minorities is trying to provide justice to the victims…PM Modi has taken many decisions for the welfare of Sikhs…BJP always promotes Sikhs…Sikhs are safe in the nation…The inheritance in India is from the father so Rahul Gandhi is also a minority as his grandfather Feroze Gandhi was a Parsi, a minority community…All religions are one. We should not make these kinds of statements.”
Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that, I unequivocally condemn Rahul Gandhi’s derogatory and divisive remarks on foreign soil about Sikhs’ Dastar and Kakaar in India. In India, no Sikh has ever been stopped from wearing a turban or visiting a Gurudwara!
Prime Minister Modi Ji, in his deep respect for Sikhism, proudly dons a Dastar when he bows his head at Gurdwara Sahib. Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to distort reality is not just misleading but a dangerous effort to sow discord and hatred.
The Gandhi family’s history of targeting Sikh faith is well-known, from their role in orchestrating the 1984 Sikh genocide to shielding and rewarding those responsible for the massacre. Rahul Gandhi’s legacy is one of betrayal, and his divisive politics are a continuation of Congress’ “Divide and Rule” agenda.
“LoP Rahul Gandhi should stop spreading lies on foreign soil about Sikhs being denied entry into gurdwaras or being prevented from wearing turbans and kadas. As a proud and devoted Sikh, I can say with certainty that this is utter nonsense. India, home to nearly 24 million Sikhs, allows us to practice our faith freely, without interference.
We proudly wear our turbans, kadas, and follow our traditions while coexisting peacefully with brothers and sisters of all faiths. It’s shameful to see such falsehoods being used to tarnish India’s image abroad. Time to get your facts straight,
Rahul Gandhi”, said MOS Ravneet Singh Bittu in his post on X
