Chandigarh: Kangana Ranaut, the BJP MP from Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh, has caused controversy for the BJP in Haryana by expressing dissent over the three farm laws during the election season. Her statement has brought the issue of the farmers’ movement back into focus amid the Haryana assembly elections.

Although the BJP has distanced itself from Kangana Ranaut, calling her statement a personal opinion, the farmers have taken it up as an issue. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia clarified that Kangana’s views are her personal opinion and not the party’s stance, but this has still angered the farmers.

Farmers are being deliberately harassed

Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad stated that Kangana has a long record of talking nonsense. He believes that efforts are being made to deliberately harass the farmers. Kohad also mentioned that the more the BJP harasses the farmers, the worse the result they will have to suffer in the Haryana elections.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, leader of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) protesting at Shambhu border, said that even though the Center has withdrawn the laws, action should be taken against their MPs if they give statements on those laws. He questioned how someone can give a statement on policy matters and claim it’s their personal opinion. Pandher also mentioned that the BJP has been exposed on this issue.

Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, stated that farmers saved MSP and Mandi system from BJP’s dictatorial government by sacrificing their lives. He also challenged BJP MPs who have plans to bring back the black laws, saying that after the formation of Congress government in Haryana, there is no such power that can implement them.
