Shimla: The Shimla Police have claimed that they have verified the identity cards of migrants amid the ongoing mosque dispute in Himachal Pradesh. After conducting an investigation, they found that most of the migrants’ identity cards, particularly Aadhaar cards, are legitimate.

The police took action in response to doubts raised by local residents about the authenticity of the migrants’ Aadhar cards. The investigation was prompted by a complaint filed by the Vyapar Mandal in the Kotkhai area of Shimla district, alleging that many migrants from a specific community in Gumma had the same date of birth on their Aadhaar cards, leading to suspicions of forgery.

However, the police found that the Aadhaar cards with the same date of birth were genuine after conducting a thorough investigation. They confirmed that all 75 migrants’ Aadhar cards were found to be legitimate.

After receiving the complaint, when the police went to the Lokmitra centers and investigated, all the Aadhaar cards were found to be correct. According to the police, the date of the same day mentioned in the Aadhaar card has been recorded due to technical fault of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Shimla police has also talked to UIDAI in this matter. The authority clarified that when Aadhaar cards were started to be made in the year 2010, there was a problem with the birth certificate.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi said that for the past few days, local people were expressing doubts about the Aadhaar cards of migrants at many places. The Vyapar Mandal in Gumma Kotkhai of Shimla had also complained about this. On which the police immediately took cognizance and the matter was investigated. In the investigation, the Aadhaar cards of all were found to be correct.
