Chandigarh:Shiromani Akali Dal has distanced itself from the former IAS officer Darbara Singh Guru after his name came up in the 1986 Nakodar firing case. The party has immediately removed Darbara Singh Guru from the position of advisor.
Darbara Singh Guru was appointed as the advisor to the working president, Balwinder Singh Bhundar by Shiromani Akali Dal. However, he was removed from his position after his name came up in a firing case. Darbara Singh Guru has denied any involvement in the 1986 Nakodar firing case. At the time of the incident, Darbara Singh Guru was serving as an IAS officer and was posted as ADC in Jalandhar.
However, he had clarified in a press conference that he has no connection with the years old incident. Senior party leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema has given information about the cancellation of his appointment by posting on social media account X.
Darbara Singh Guru was earlier appointed as the advisor of the working chief Bhundar by the Akali Dal. But the opposition party and critics raised questions on this. They said that the Akali Dal is not ready to improve its ways. Also, he has started targeting the party. Therefore, the Akali Dal has withdrawn his appointment.
