Amritsar: Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, has called for a crucial meeting of Panj Singh Sahibans on December 2 and it is expected that decision on Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal’s punishment will be taken on December 2.
It is learnt that at the meeting has been called on December 2 at 1 pm for important discussions regarding the pending issues related to Shiromani Akali Dal and ongoing sectarian matters.
Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that Sukhbir Singh Badal has been summoned and besides, members of the SGPC interim committee and the Akali Dal Core Committee from 2015 have also been summoned.
Earlier on August 30, The Akal Takht had declared Sukbir Singh Badal ‘tankhaiya’- (holding him guilty of religious misconduct) for “some decisions” during his tenure as deputy chief minister from 2007 to 2017. He was restricted from participating in any political activity and even contesting elections.
Following this, the entire Shiromani Akali Dal had decided not to contest the recently held bypolls in Punjab.
Recently, Sukhbir Singh Badal visited Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat and gave a written appeal urging Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take the decision regarding his punishment as soon as possible.
In letter, Badal mentioned it has been more than two and a half months since he was declared as Tankhaiya and respecting the orders of the Sri Akal Takht Sahib he has not contested as well as participated in the important by-polls.
He mentioned that Sikh Panth and Punjab are facing huge challenges and he is unable to take any step as he is refrained from taking part in any political activities as per the orders of Akal takht and had urged Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take decisions regarding his punishment as soon as possible.
So, earlier this month on November 16, Sukhbir Singh Badal had tendered his resignation from the post of party president, however the working committee of the party has not accepted the resignation yet.
So, now, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh has called for a crucial meeting of Panj Singh Sahibans on December 2 at 1 pm.
