Courts across Punjab to remain close this week, Read to know why

Courts across Punjab will remain closed this week. This decision has been taken unanimously during the state-level meeting of all the bar associations of Punjab. It was also decided in the meeting that a peaceful protest will be held outside the courts against the administration.

All the bar associations have jointly passed a resolution protesting against the Action Plan Cases, Legal Aid Defence Council Scheme, and Gram Nayaals. The lawyers have demanded that the government reconsider these policies as they are becoming a big burden on the legal community.

Lawyers say that the work pressure on them is continuously increasing due to the Action Plan Cases. In the race to dispose of cases quickly, sometimes the parties do not get justice properly. This is also having a negative impact on the personal life and health of the lawyers.

Similarly, serious concerns have been raised about the misuse of the Legal Aid Defence Council Scheme. According to the lawyers, this scheme can have a direct impact on the lawyers who practice daily. The false propaganda being done by setting up camps in the villages has also been described as worrying.

The lawyers’ organizations have made it clear that the protests will continue until the government takes a suitable decision on these issues.
