Vice Presidential election 2025: NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan files nomination; PM Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh present

New Delhi: NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan has filed his nomination. PM Narendra Modi became the Chief proposer. Many leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda, were present during the nomination. Before the nomination, Radhakrishnan offered flowers to the Gandhi statue located in the Parliament premises.

His name was agreed upon in the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting held on August 17. BJP President JP Nadda announced Radhakrishnan’s name in a press conference.

Radhakrishnan will face the opposition alliance’s candidate, retired Supreme Court Justice B Sudarshan Reddy. The special thing is that both the candidates are from the South. Reddy will file his nomination on August 21.

Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on September 9. Counting will also take place on the same day. The last date for filing nomination is August 21. Candidature can be withdrawn till August 25.

In fact, the Vice Presidential election is being held due to the sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar on the night of July 21. The tenure of 74-year old Dhankhar was till August 10, 2027.
