Crackdown on drug traffickers: Amritsar youth arrested in Kangra with heroin

Kangra Police have achieved another major success in their special campaign against drug trafficking. Police arrested a man near the Sarnu area in Shahpur with 21 grams of heroin. The accused has been identified as Sumit Kumar, a resident of Amritsar.

Success during patrolling

This action was taken during a patrol by a special team of the Kangra District Police on the night of December 24th and 25th, 2025. Based on a tip-off, the team apprehended 36-year-old Sumit Kumar, a resident of Khalsa Nagar, Kot Meet Singh, Tarn Taran Road, Amritsar.

Seizure and legal action

After 21 grams of heroin were recovered from his possession, the accused was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Shahpur Police Station, with FIR number 139/25.

Police operation continues

The police are taking necessary legal action against the accused as per the rules. The Kangra District Police are continuously conducting patrols, setting up checkpoints, and gathering intelligence to crack down on drug traffickers.
