Ludhiana:
Panic gripped the locals near Jalandhar bypass on Sunday night after a 13-year-old boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a grain market.
The victim, identified as Abhishek Kumar of Maskeen Nagar, Village Bhaura, was discovered hanging from the grills of a makeshift shop. His family suspects foul play and is demanding action.
According to the police, the body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for a postmortem, and a panel of three doctors has been formed to conduct the autopsy. Authorities have stated that further action will be taken based on the postmortem report.
The boy’s mother recounted that Abhishek had gone for a haircut earlier in the day and returned home in the evening.
Victim’s mother further added that she got engaged in cooking dinner and had asked his son to take a bath after he returned in the evening. However, later after some time a boy turned up at their house and he seemed to be in a state of shock. “The boy took us to the grain market where we were shocked to find the body of our son hanging from the grill,” she stated.
The mother alleged that her son had been murdered, citing an eyewitness account from a boy who claimed to have seen two men abducting and assaulting Abhishek before the incident.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP – North) Davinder Chaudhary stated that soon after receiving information the police reached the spot and initiated investigation into the matter. While CCTV footage from the area has been reviewed, no evidence has surfaced showing the boy being taken away.
ACP Chaudhary also mentioned that the boy had left the house after being scolded by his father for not returning home on time.
However, the investigation is on.
