Ludhiana: The persistent wave of violence in Ludhiana continues unabated as yet another incident of open firing was reported in the city. On Sunday evening, some assailants opened fire at businessman’s son in posh locality of the city — Sarabha Nagar near the MC Zone D office.
Fortunately, the bullets hit the vehicle and the youngster escaped unhurt.
According to the police, it is suspected that the incident occurred following an old rivalry as according to the complainant, Sanjeev Bhardwaj, a businessman, his son has a rivalry with some persons identified as Aryan and Deepapur and the accused had attacked his son and his friends earlier also in Model Town and a case was registered at Model Town police station.
According to Division number 5 police, they are verifying whether the same persons were involved in Sunday’s incident or not. As of now, the police have registered an FIR under sections 109 of BNS and sections of the Arms Act.
SHO Vijay Kumar said that the incident occurred at around 7 pm when Garry Bhardwaj was returning home in his BMW car. The assailants turned up in Brezza car and they intercepted Garry Bhardwaj’s way and opened fire two shots at him. The bullets hit the vehicle and Garry managed to speed up the vehicle and escape unhurt from the spot.
SHO said that the police have registered FIR based on the statement of the complainant and initiated further investigation into the matter.
