Bareilly tense as Muslim cleric detained over ‘jail bharo’ call

New Delhi The situation remains tense in Bareilly city of Uttar Pradesh on Friday as thousands of followers of Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Tauqeer Raza Khan took to the streets after the Islamic cleric was detained by the police for giving a ‘jail bharo’ call over Gyanvapi case.

Stone pelting was reported

Stone pelting was reported in the Some areas in which one person was injured, police said. The District Magistrate said the police are investigating the matter.

Thousands of Raza Khan’s supporters took to the streets after Friday namaz. Videos showed them jostling with the police personnel were on the ground to maintain the law and order situation. All important intersections, mixed populated areas, and entry and exit points of the city are being manned by police.
