New Delhi: In a tragic incident, a 5-year-old girl was strangled to death by her mother in the Ashok Vihar area of Delhi, according to police reports on Saturday. The child’s death was first reported by Deepchand Hospital, prompting an investigation.
Police found strangulation marks on the child, which led them to register a case. They brought in all individuals connected to the child, including her mother, for questioning. After extensive interrogation, the mother confessed to strangling her daughter.
Investigators discovered that the mother had previously been abandoned by her first husband. She later connected with a man named Rahul through Instagram and moved to Delhi with hopes of marrying him. However, Rahul and his family rejected the child, leading to the mother’s frustration and ultimately the tragic act of violence.
Moreover, the investigation revealed that the mother and child had been living in Himachal Pradesh with a relative before moving to Delhi, where the mother alleged that the relative had sexually abused the child. As a result, police registered a case under section 103/65(2) BNS, along with section 06 of the POCSO Act. The investigation is ongoing.
