A doctor was fatally shot by two unidentified individuals at Neema Hospital in Delhi’s Jaitpur area, according to police reports on Thursday. The victim, identified as Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner (BUMS), was approached by the assailants who initially sought medical treatment for an injury.
Police stated that after being attended to by the hospital staff, the suspects requested to see Dr. Javed and were granted an appointment in his office. It was during this meeting that they shot him and quickly fled the scene.
CCTV footage from the hospital captured the suspects leaving the premises. Following the shooting, the District Crime Team and the FSL Rohini Team arrived to investigate the crime scene. Authorities are currently searching for the two individuals, who are believed to be minors, as preliminary investigations suggest that this was a targeted killing.
In a related incident earlier on Tuesday, a 36-year-old caretaker was shot dead in Dwarka’s Mohan Nagar area after attempting to intervene in a dispute between two tenants over loud music.
