Sangruru: In Janal village (Dirba area, Sangruru) miscreants attacked a Dalit family with sharpened weapons. In this attack seven members of the family were seriously injured. All the injured have been admitted to the Sunam Civil Hospital.
The Dalit community has accused that late at night some people jumped over the wall of our house and attacked us. Victim family members said that, the attackers are mostly from their village, but don’t know why they attacked us. They have no rivalry or enmity in the village.
The former Sarpanch of the village Gurjeet Singh Jeeti said that these are the noble people of our village, who are being harassed by the people of the lower class of the village. They were beaten up, he has demanded from the police administration that appropriate legal action should be taken against the people who attacked them.
Dirba SHO Kamaldeep Singh said that there was a fight between two parties in Janal village, in connection with which the said party was admitted to Sanam Civil Hospital the previous day, after recording their statements, a case has been registered against six people of the other party, who are also residents of Janal village. Further investigation is going on and action will be taken according to whatever facts come to light.
