Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has uncovered a gang of counterfeit degree producers. Two individuals, including the mastermind and an associate, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The police has seized 196 fake degrees, 53 counterfeit stamps, 6 laptops, 3 printers, 1 stamp machine, 8 mobile phones, and other items from the accused. The police will promptly present the accused in court and seek remand for further interrogation. The arrests were made by the Jalandhar Heights outpost of Thana Sadar.
Late on Saturday night, Gurwinder Singh Virk, in-charge of outpost Jalandhar Heights, received information that two individuals in his area were involved in the production of fake degrees.
Virk promptly informed his superiors and led a team to raid the location, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects. Upon interrogation at the police station, 196 fake degrees were recovered from the accused. They confessed to producing counterfeit degrees for various fields including engineering, medicine, and management.
It was revealed that individuals from states such as Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh sought their services. The police are now searching for individuals from these states to dismantle the entire operation.
