Nabha (Punjab), June 27: In a major crackdown, Nabha Police has arrested four members of a criminal gang involved in drug and arms possession. The arrests were made near the Nabha bus stand based on a tip-off received by Inspector Sarabjit Singh Cheema, in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Addressing a press conference, DSP Nabha Mandeep Kaur Cheema informed that the police raided the area and intercepted a car carrying five individuals: Lovepreet Singh Bhau, Rajdeep Singh Bhau, Sukhdarshan Singh (all real brothers), Kamaljeet Singh Bhau (a cousin), and Gautam Badshah. The gang was reportedly planning a major criminal act.
During the raid, four of the accused were arrested on the spot, while Gautam Badshah managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The police recovered the following from the arrested individuals:
900 narcotic pills
One China-made pistol
Three iron swords (datar)
Two knives
One iron rod
One car
The DSP revealed that the gang members, aged between 20 and 25 years, already have multiple criminal cases against them, including murder, assault, intimidation, and theft. However, this is the first time they have been arrested in a case involving drugs.
Expressing concern, DSP Cheema said it is alarming that such young individuals are involved in serious crimes. She urged the youth to focus on education and sports instead of crime, warning that such actions can destroy their future.
She also reiterated that Nabha Police is actively working against drug networks and will not allow anyone to sell drugs or carry out criminal activities in the area.
