Jalandhar: Jalandhar Rural police has caught three accused who were extorting money by posing as fake police officers. Shahkot police station team have arrested the culprits from Shahkot area.
They have been identified as Raja, resident of Kapurthala, Davinder Singh resident of Dhuddiwal, Kapurthala and Harjinder Singh resident of Tibba police station Talwandi Chaudhary Kapurthala. Police has registered a case against all of them and started further investigation.
Police officials said that one of arrested accused Raja was former police inspector. He was dismissed from police services for such kind of malpractices. His last posting as SHO was at Kapurthala. Department had dismissed Raja in a corruption case.
The accused used to extort money from innocent people by introducing themselves as employees of CIA staff Kapurthala. Three similar cases have already been registered against the three.
Police Nabs three on complaint
SHO of Thana Shahkot Aman Saini said that, Navneet Arora alias Nitin, resident of Truck Union Saidpur Jhiri, Shahkot had lodged a complaint against the accused.
Nitin had said that on Wednesday evening I had gone out for some work. During this, the three accused who came out in car number CH-01-AY-5234 stopped me and started saying that you are involved in illegal activities, we know everything. We have come from CIA Kapurthala. We have come to raid your house.
The three made the victim sit in a car and asked for 50 thousand rupees to release him. To save his life, Nitin took out four thousand rupees from his pocket and gave it to the accused. When the accused were not happy with this, the victim brought 8 thousand rupees more from home and handed it over to the accused Raja.
After taking the money, the accused threatened that if he tells anyone about this, an FIR will be registered against him. When the matter reached the police, the police arrested the victim.
